Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Dubai AI Grandmaster?
The Dubai AI Grandmaster is the third edition of the Global Prompt Engineering Championship (GPEC). It's a live, high-pressure competition designed to identify the single best prompt engineer in the world. The winner is crowned the Dubai AI Grandmaster and takes home AED 1,000,000 (approximately USD 272,000).
When and where does it take place?
The competition takes place on 6 April 2026 at Emirates Towers, Dubai, as part of Dubai AI Week 2026 (6–9 April). The awards ceremony is held separately on 7 April 2026.
Who can apply?
The competition features 20 participants split into two groups: 10 Legends (established AI creators and influencers, curated through direct outreach) and 10 Rising Stars (sourced through open applications like this form). If you're an emerging talent with strong AI skills, this is your path in.
What does the competition format look like?
Final details will be shared closer to the day, but expect a live, elimination-style bracket format with escalating challenges. One competitor will walk away with the prestigious title of AI Grandmaster — and AED 1,000,000.
What are the prizes?
The first-place winner receives AED 1,000,000 (approximately USD 272,000). There are additional monetary prizes for second and third place (amounts to be confirmed).
What are you looking for in applicants?
We evaluate applicants on: strong ability to apply AI across different output types, confidence performing under time constraints and live conditions, creativity and originality in execution, clear strategic thinking and structured problem solving, and the ability to clearly explain your approach and decisions.
Do I need to be in Dubai already?
No. We cover flights and accommodation for selected competitors, so you can focus on what matters. Just let us know your availability for April 6–7 in Dubai on the application form. The competition is live and in-person only, so you will need to be there on the day.
What is Dubai AI Week?
Dubai AI Week 2026 (6–9 April) is one of the largest AI gatherings in the region. It includes the AI Retreat (invite-only forum with 100+ global leaders), AI Assembly (keynotes, workshops, and hackathons), Dubai AI Festival (public trade show), TED @ Dubai AI Week, and AI Week in Schools. As a competitor, you'll be landing in the middle of all of this.
Who are the judges?
We are currently in discussions with leading AI organizations including Microsoft, Alibaba Cloud, NVIDIA, Google (Gemini), Google Cloud, OpenAI, and IBM. All judges are TBC and final confirmations will be announced closer to the event.
When will I hear back about my application?
All 20 competitors will be confirmed by the end of March. If you're selected, we'll reach out directly via WhatsApp or email to get everything sorted.
